Happy Birthday Marines
USMC 227th Birthday

ArmBand Reunion 2002

The ArmBand Reunion website has now been operational for over 2 years and has experienced tremendous turn out and interaction of folks. This includes many Marines and former Military Police from all services of the DoD, as well as local, state, and federal law enforcement types. The ArmBand website and the coordination for the annual reunion is an awesome task and requires more hours and time than I can dedicate to make it happen. I will not stop the site or interfere with the exchange of information but in the event others with more time have an interest of cranking the reunion and events back in motion I am there to assist in any way possible.

The ArmBand website is a good location and network and I intend that it remain in existence for some time to come. ArmBand is one example of "firsts" that I've been involved in. Others include:

  • I am the first member of the Armband Reunion dot com and organizer of the wreath lying at the Vietnam Wall, 2000.
  • I was a member of the first group of un restricted officers to receive the 5803 mos, Military Police, 1978.
  • I was the first prior enlisted E-6 to be administratively reduced to E5 for pay purposes (non-punitive) for the combined 10 week OCS, course, Quantico VA 1976.
  • I was a member of the first mixed gender USMC Class at TBS, Quantico VA. 1977, Charlie Company
  • I was a member of the first Infantry Officer's course (IOC) USMC, Quantico VA. 1977.
  • I was a member of the first Marine Division , MP Co. Hq Bn, in Vietnam 1969-70.
  • I was a member of the first class of Benet Academy, Lisle IL. 1968 (also first co ed class)

I intend to keep this forum open for the law enforcement community who remain interested, and to allow those individuals who were members of the listed individual events in order to have a place to post and place articles of interest. Summer 2002, we had a 25 th anniversary of the first IOC course at Quantico and I will post some photos, comments and reviews of that great event. The original instructor's were present and many of the class members have lead some very successful careers during the past 25 years. I state that as an example of how I would like the site to go and am open to anyone's comments and thoughts, ideas and desires. I'll still be located in the DC area for years to come and will still make the dedication at the Vietnam Wall on Nov 11th every year. I have also returned back to Nam twice in the last 14 months and have photos from those trips to post on this site. My old CO, Capt. Ed Garr, currently working with www.miltours.com, encouraged my return and I am very glad to have gone back.

Thanks to all of you for your assistance, support and co-operation and let me know what your thoughts are.
